After the secret Senate Majority Leader vote, many of us are disappointed yet more resolved than ever to keep pushing for the values our voters overwhelmingly support. Despite calls from conservatives across the country, Senator John Thune emerged as the next Senate Majority Leader, a decision which will define the direction our Senate takes for at least the next two years.
A recent statement published by the PCGOP called for a leader who would prioritize the America First agenda, strong conservative principles, and a commitment to Parker county values. Senator Rick Scott has represented many of these values while in office. His record of leadership, courage, and alignment with the core beliefs of conservative Americans made him, in my view, the right pick for Senate Majority Leader.
Senator Thune, by contrast, has voted with Democrats to undermine the priorities we stand for! For many in our county—and in similar communities across the nation—Thune’s history of support for liberal policies, like omnibus spending bills, has raised concerns.
This vote serves as a reminder the values we support must be continually reinforced. We must stay vigilant and engaged! Parker County will not give up its fight to ensure the voices of the American people are not only heard but respected. We call on Senator Thune to become an America First leader and work to protect the principles so many of us hold dear.
The Parker County GOP remains committed to standing up for the people’s voice, and we’ll continue to call on our representatives to make choices that reflect the will of conservative America.
